Seasonal Yoga

I have completed my 200 and 500 hours Seasonal Yoga training and am currently completing my teaching hours for my 500 hour accreditation.
Seasonal Yoga is a combination of Yoga and traditional Chinese medicine aimed at living more in line with the seasons. In Seasonal Yoga there are 6 Seasons, Spring, Early Summer, Summer, Late Summer, Autumn and Winter. Each of the seasons is related to an organ pair and we adapt our practice and everyday aspects of life like food and activities to these organs and the season.

I am currently training to be a Yoga Therapist.

Yoga therapy is the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga.

The name umbela originally came about via a typo in google. Where I learned that umbela is the Spanish word for umbel. I really liked the word and somehow it stuck. I hence went of to find out what umbel are. They are plants with a blossom that has an umbrella shape. For instance fennel blossoms. I learned that one of my favourite plants rhododendron has umbel blossoms as well. Being half Scottish it is hard not to love rhododendron. The Logo of Umbela hence reflects the umbel blossom of hododendron as well as the six colours of the seasons from Seasonal Yoga. Umbela is the Yoga business part of Tapadh Ltd.

Introducing Sarah

Sarah 200h RYT

I am Sarah, I came to Yoga in 2009 during my time living in Doha. I was working full time five and a half days on a construction site and doing my master in Construction Law. I was constantly suffering stiff shoulders and back pain. I had contemplated going back to the physio therapy exercises I had learned as a child as part of the treatment for my scoliosis. However, I had been bored with that already back in the days, so I decided to try something similar but different. It all started out with a simple Asana practice at home and eventually going to Hot Yoga Classes in Doha. I always had been a person to practice daily in the morning and continued to do so even when I left Doha. I traveled various parts of the world for a year here and there, dragging a Yoga Mat with me was hard work. Upon  my return to the UK I continued to attend Hot Yoga classes off and on but as I was travelling for work a lot my daily practice with my mat in my luggage still were my main link to Yoga. I eventually decided that my daily practice and the odd class just wasn't enough. I wanted to know more. I wanted to know what each posture does and why some days I got to the mat and would  be totally focused on what I did and feel awesome afterwards, while other days I would just not get to that state and just merely be doing exercise.  I signed up for teacher training in 2018 and completed my 200h training in March 2019. I have been teaching off and on ever since. At the beginning of 2020 I decided to continue my training to get my full 500h accreditation. In addition during the Corona Crisis I was furloughed and decided that all of that still did not feel as if I knew enough. I commenced my Yoga Therapy Training in May 2020 and hope to finish it by the end of 2021 to have my 800 Yoga Therapy Certification from the IAYT.
